Yago Dora of Brazil has won the Red Bull Airborne France, a World Surf League specialty event held in four foot waves at Plage des Cuis Nus, Hossegor. The inaugural Red Bull Airborne Division hosted an 18 man field consisting of a cross section of surfers from The World Championship Tour and a global field of aerial specialists. The 22 year old Dora won the final, which included Griffin Colapinto USA, Jack Freestone Australia, Kalani David Hawaii, Matt Meola Hawaii and Eithan Osborne USA.
Dora got active early in the final and scored two great maneuvers in the first five minutes to take the lead he never let go. His first aerial was a huge slob air / front arm grabbing his toe edge / that was scored a 6.67 points out of a possible 10. He then quickly put together another forehand rotation with a frontside grab, the same maneuver / but with the trailing arm grabbing the toe edge / Dora went on to take out the win.
