The 2012 World Champion surfer Joel Parkinson from Queensland, Australia has today announced his retirement from The World Surf League Championship Tour. Parkinson will surf the remaining 2018 World Championship Tour Events of the year and retire full time from competition after his last heat at the world renowned Billabong Pipe Masters in Hawaii, in memory of the late Andy Irons this coming December.

The legendary surfer from the Gold Coast of Australia will hang up his competitive jersey after 18 years on the elite World Championship Tour, 12 prestigious Championship Tour wins, and of course his illustrious World Title victory in 2012. Parkinson’s iconic style not only cemented his legacy in the history books but has also influenced and inspired the next generation of surfers around the world.
