Australian duo Ethan Ewing and Macy Callaghan have capped off their awesome competitive seasons taking out the World Junior Championships yesterday in Kiama on the New South Wales, South Coast.The conditions were not ideal but the world’s best junior surfers put on an incredible show in clean 2 foot waves, that were on offer at the scenic Bombo Beach.
The men’s final was a showdown between the Number 1 and 2 seeds of the championship, Ethan Ewing, Australia and Griffin Colapinto, USA. The two standout surfers all event were both tearing through opposite sides of the draw before they drew each other in the final.
Ethan Ewing from Stradbroke Island in Queensland now joins some of the previous winners of this prestigious event which includes Joel Parkinson from Australia, Andy Irons of Hawaii and Gabriel Medina from Brazil to name a few past winners of the Junior World Champions who have raised this trophy in victory.
