What was once a foregone conclusion is up for debate. Is Channel Islands Surfboards still the greatest surfboard manufacturer in the world. Many would say yes, but others might point to a recent series of departures by their most iconic riders as a sign of decline. Kelly Slater, Rob Machado and Taylor Knox have departed the brand, so now Channel Islands loses a big chunk of it’s star power.
I seem to beg to differ as the new generation of USA riders such as current World Surf League surfer Connor Coffin and Freesurfer Dane Reynolds with Japanese Team rider Masatoshi Ohno will fly the Channel Islands flag into the future. They don’t seem to have much to worry about. Channel Islands Surfboards are still a strong company, I don’t see it being affected too much.
